Significant Reduction in Price

StoryDev Character Generator has been significantly reduced in price as a result of a change in business model.

The original business model meant that the base software will be sold at a high price due to the niche nature of this market, but this may deter a lot of hobby developers simply looking for a solution to generating sprite sheets for their hobby projects. Indeed, Character Generator is a hobby project turned commercial. In the past week, we feel this change will benefit StoryDev and our customers in the long-term.

In addition, the original plan was also to release additional assets separately at a price. Depending on the type of asset will depend on whether or not it would have a price in this new business model.

Poses are known as additional assets with additional frames. This we cannot feasibly give away due to the costs involved. It requires modifying existing assets to incorporate these additional frames and the costs for maintaining each new asset project rises exponentially, resulting in a loss.

To make our lives easier, it makes more sense to work on Poses first before we start adding new assets onto the list.

That means you will be seeing a lot of Poses being released before any additional asset projects are created. Due to this, we brought the original price of $24.99 down to $9.99, with each additional Pose being sold depending on the number of frames they offer.

At $9.99, we would need to sell ~130 copies to start making a profit, which in a market as small as this is hardly going to be achieved.

This leaves us with only one option -- your word of mouth.

At this lower price, we can make our business model work with your support and commitment.

We would also like to add more options in future patches. We are looking at various patches for the future implementing some additional features, including:

• Randomisation
• Shader/Pattern Effects
• Pixel Modifications
• Iconise Everything
• UI Modifications (naturally)
• An API for using Character Generator sprites at runtime

As for the rest of the assets, we are considering the following:

• We could sell Poses at a low price, but then offer assets incorporating these new frames at a low price also.
• Or, we could sell Poses at a higher price and offer assets incorporating the new frames for free.
