Patch 1.1: Tag Management

Let's now talk about tags. Tag Management in Character Generator will be used to help you organise your characters in ways that can be easily filtered. It can later also be used to automate your asset pipeline and data representation in your projects.

Let's look at the following as an example:

Here, we can see a list of tags on the left and the tag details on the right.

• We can create and delete tags that we manage in the left-hand pane of this interface.
• We can modify the name, colour and whether the tag has multiple values, on the right-hand pane.
  • Name gives us the description of the tag.
  • Colour can further emphasise the difference between tags.
  • And Multi-Value determines if the tag should contain values that can be picked.

When creating a new tag, a colour is automatically selected from a small handful of pre-set colours that rotate each time the threshold is met. You can, of course, simply choose an alternative colour.

When checking "Multi-Value", more options become available.

Now we can add what are "key-value pairs", which represents a display value (the key) followed by the data it represents (the value). In export, these values become more useful when integrating into your projects' pipeline. However, it can further be used to organise your character's in more detail.

When clicking "+ NEW TAG", we are given the same interface as we would if we simply clicked on one of these individual key-value pairs. We can rename, edit and delete tag contents from this interface.

We have not done it yet, but we will be demonstrating how these tags fall into practice in Character Management expecting completion this Sunday (3/12). Here we will not only discuss these tags in more detail, but also:

• "Virtual Folders" for further organisation of Characters in Character Generator.
• A new interface for character management.
• A pop-up interface for creating and managing characters;
• and a pop-up interface for managing the virtual folders.
