Patch 1.1: Future Plans

Thank you all for helping us and supporting our project up to this point in time.

We are currently exploring different business model options for StoryDev Character Generator, which may also mean exploring alternative ways and means of delivering you the content you want for Character Generator. While we will not give specifics at present, we would like to remind everyone that although Patch 1.1 is on its way and our current version of Character Generator is on sale until the 7th January, the sales price will return to normal.

To give a brief summary of our plans moving forwards:

• Re-design our website for better, more suitable content management. We have explored options such as Strapi which offers building custom structures and managing content built around those structures. This we can use in combination with Golang to deliver our website very quickly.
• In addition, Character Generator will have various updates to it which you might not necessarily expect. We are currently looking at alternative ways and means to develop it, but as Patch 1.1 nears release, we are planning on releasing the base assets free-of-charge and future patch feature releases potentially locked off from the free version. This does, of course, mean that our sales offering will apply to people who are interested in Patch 1.1, primarily, and so we hope and expect that your support will continue to allow us to develop this project.
• We want to release assets more frequently. To do this, we need an asset pipeline that prevents us from taking several steps to deliver this content. Cutting the number of steps down will reduce the time it takes to deliver the content, but getting this infrastructure in place will take time. In addition, we will need more than one person working on the assets. Currently, we have only one freelance artist and turnaround time is generally one month, but this is only for a small chunk of assets rather than a large chunk. To release more and faster, we will need an additional graphics artist which we cannot financially afford at present.

Christmas has indeed held up development time. I have visited family and friends as we have all, and I wish to continue my celebrations up until New Years Day. I will continue to work on Character Generator and the new website during this time and as I would normally at periods where I'm free.

Character Generator does not develop itself, however. It is currently on sale and your support would mean a lot. For future reference, please note that updates to the software and the release of content can only be as fast as I can allow it, and this project is currently supported with funds from alternative sources and is not financially viable as a single source of income.
